I am currently running for a seat on the West Bend Jt. School District Board of Education. Primary Election is Tuesday, February 16th, General Election is Tuesday, April 6th.
I am running because our District will continue to face difficult financial decisions over the next few years. The taxpayers need an advocate to watch out for their interests during this crucial time. Last Fall, an unprecedented number of average folks turned out at the District's Annual Meeting to let the Board know that they did not agree with the proposed tax levy increase. After holding several more "listening sessions", at which the spending advocates re-grouped and loudly voiced their own opinions, the Board unanimously passed the maximum increase allowed by law. That vote is what finally motivated me to take the next step and run for a seat on the Board.
If elected, I intend to be an advocate for the hard-working people who can't show up meeting after meeting to reinforce their message. The loudest and most frequently-heard voices shouldn't necessarily be the ones who get attention. Choices need to be weighed and difficult decisions made in a common sense way.
I am asking for your support, and your vote, for the primary election on February 16th...and then the general election on April 6th!
